I'm so glad you're here!
My name is Paige and I am a certified functional nutrition counselor, founder and creator of Refocus, and a physician assistant. Since you're here, I'm guessing your health/lifestyle isn't quite where you'd want it to be, and maybe you'd like to try a more natural approach instead of jumping to medications...And you're in exactly the right place.
What is healthy anyway?
One of the funny things about health, is that we don't often realize how unhealthy we are until it's a problem. A lot of us, myself included, had awful diets and probably a lot of questionable lifestyles when we were younger. When I was in high school, I would come home from school and eat a huge bowl of ice cream then when I still wasn't quite satisfied at the bottom of that bowl, I added an entire bag of microwavable popcorn and vegged out in front of the TV. Did I feel unhealthy then? Nope. But as I got older, I started to notice I couldn't eat those things anymore without gaining weight. I was tired a lot more often. I was 18 with back problems. I fancy myself as a rather ambitious person and while those seemed kind of like small things they were slowing me down. I went to school to become a physician assistant so I could fix myself and help others do the same. Needless to say, I wasn't satisfied there. That, plus a couple other life events (you can read about them in my "blog"), propelled me to dig deeper and pursue further education.
There has to be better
If you don't want to be held back by what everyone annoyingly calls "getting older," you are in the right place. The truth is, a lot of those "getting older" things are not normal. They might be common, sure, but not normal.
Now, if you're thinking - "sure, maybe I don't feel like I did when I was 18, but I'm feeling alright and it is not worth eating cardboard and not enjoying life" - I would like to inform you that
1. You do not have to give up all your favorite things to be healthy and feel good.
2. I am not proposing a restrictive diet or lifestyle by any means, in fact, I think that tends to be harmful in the long run (I've been there, it sucks).
3. I would like to challenge that feeling good, having more energy, and being healthy will allow you to enjoy life way more than you are now.
